Our founder was a resident of Minneapolis and a bookstore employee in 1995 when a new internet company bought the rights to the name, and promptly shut down, a feminist bookshop called Amazon. While we oppose being defined by what we oppose, returning the book world to how it was decades ago is part of our objective and wishes.
